The National Education Association Rhode Island Political Action Committee for Education (NEARI-PACE) today announced its endorsement of Joe Shekarchi for House District 23 in its first round of endorsed candidates for General Assembly primaries in 2022.

“I am thrilled to have the backing of our teaching professionals, as well as the volunteer support that comes with it,” said Shekarchi. “I’ve ensured that the General Assembly has made key investments in education, including making the Rhode Island Promise program permanent so that more students can access higher education, and worked to almost double the amount of free Pre-K seats available. I am so proud that NEARI recognizes the work I’ve done with my colleagues to prioritize and support education.”

NEARI-PACE Chairwoman Amy Mullen and NEARI President Larry Purtill issued the following:

“Our committee engaged in robust discussion and we are proud to share this list of endorsements with our membership. We believe these candidates have demonstrated an alignment with NEARI ideals and will work toward policies that will support public education and protect Rhode Island workers. We look forward to activating our 12,000 members and their families in support of these candidates.”
