Joe is a Champion for Women’s Rights, Healthcare, and Equity

“So many women and people of color know how demoralizing it is to earn less than our counterparts for doing the same job. For years, I sponsored legislation to ensure pay equity for all employees, regardless of gender or ethnicity. For years, the legislation was stalled – until Joe Shekarchi became Speaker. Joe not only supported the pay equity bill, he brought all parties together to reach an agreement and passed the legislation.”

Joe’ friend and colleague, Rep. Susan Donovan, made this strong statement in support of his candidacy. One of Joe’s proudest moments as a legislator was when Rep. Donovan’s pay equity legislation was passed.
